What is web hosting?

The internet consists of client machines (users) and host machines (severs). If you want your web site to be part of the internet the machine on which it lives needs to be connected to the internet. The longer that machine is connected the more accessible your web site becomes. Our servers are connected to the Internet 24 hours a day 7 days a week ensuring your site is available to anyone, anytime.

Why do you charge but some people give it away for free?

Many Internet Service Providers (ISP's) will give you free web space when you sign up for an account. Free web hosting works but there are a number of disadvantages you should be aware of. Firstly your web site won't be visible under its own domain so your address will be difficult to remebber and tell to others. If you have a business site you don't want to be advertising your ISP everytime you give someone your web address. Secondly, your site is sharing a server with thousands of other sites which are in turn sharing a line with thousands of dial-up users. The end result is busy lines and poor access. We do not support dial up connections so our connection to the internet is devoted to web hosting.

How do I get my site to you?

There are varoius ways to get your files to us. The most practicle and flexible method is by using FTP (File Transfer Protocol) which allows you to move files directly from your machine ot our servers. Alternatively send it to us on a disc and we can upload it for you.

Do I need a domain name?

Yes. Your domain name is your web adress, without it your web site will be difficult to find and your address will be difficult to remeber. If you already have one we can help you get it pointing at your web space. If you don't go to our domains section and and register today.

What if I am not happy with the service?
