Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information On The Spot Internet Services Ltd collects, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. We keep it short and we only collect what we need.

Who we are
“We”, “us” and “On the Spot” mean On The Spot Internet Services Ltd (company number SC829099), 1037 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow G3 7TZ. We are the controller of the personal information described here.
For anything about your information, email info@onthespot.co.uk or ring 0141 883 2333, or write to us at the address above.
What we collect
When you fill in our enquiry or support forms we collect what you type in:
- your name, and your business name if you give it
- your email address, and your phone number and website if you give them
- what you are interested in and your message
- how you found us, if your browser tells us: the page you arrived on, the site that sent you, and any advertising campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source or gclid)
When you use the chat assistant on this site we keep the conversation, so a person can pick it up if you ask us to get in touch. If you leave your details in the chat, we collect them as we would from a form.
When you phone, email or message us (including on WhatsApp) we keep what you tell us so we can help.
If you are a customer we also keep your account, billing and service records, and the registrant details needed for any domain names we register for you.
When you visit the site, our hosting provider records technical information such as your IP address and browser in its logs, which we use to keep the site secure and to stop forms being abused. We also count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which records the pages viewed, the referring site, your browser and device type and your country. It does not use cookies or follow you across other sites, and we cannot use it to identify you.
How we use it, and our lawful basis
- To reply to your enquiry or support request, and to prepare a proposal if you ask for one: this is in our legitimate interests and, where you are thinking of becoming a customer, a step you have asked us to take before entering a contract.
- To provide the services you buy from us, including registering and renewing domain names, and to bill you: this is necessary for our contract with you.
- To keep accounting and tax records and meet other legal duties: this is a legal obligation.
- To keep the site and our systems secure and prevent spam and fraud: this is in our legitimate interests.
- To understand which pages are useful and improve the site, using visit counts that do not identify you: this is in our legitimate interests.
Sending an enquiry does not add you to a marketing list. We only send marketing emails if you have agreed to receive them, or if you are a customer and have not opted out, and every one has a way to unsubscribe.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with organisations that help us run the business, under contracts that limit what they can do with it:
- Vercel, which hosts this website and provides its visit counts
- Resend, which delivers the emails our forms send to our team
- the cloud services that run our own customer platform, where enquiries, chat conversations and customer records are kept
- the AI provider that writes the chat assistant's replies, which receives your messages to answer them
- our email, telephone and payment providers, and our bank
- domain registries and registrars: Nominet for .uk domains and Tucows for other domains, which hold registrant details under their own rules, some of which may be published
We may also share information with our professional advisers, with a buyer if the business is ever sold, or where the law requires it, for example when the police or a regulator asks.
Information stored outside the UK
Some of our providers, including Vercel and Resend, are based in the United States or use servers there. Where your information leaves the UK we rely on the safeguards UK law allows, such as the UK–US data bridge or the international data transfer agreements approved for the UK.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries and chat conversations that do not lead to work: up to two years from our last contact, then deleted.
- Customer records: for as long as you are a customer, then six years, which is how long we must keep accounting records.
- Hosting logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period for security, then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
- delete your information, where we no longer need it
- restrict how we use it, or stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests
- send it to you or another organisation in a common format
- stop sending you marketing, at any time
To use any of these rights, email info@onthespot.co.uk or ring 0141 883 2333. It is free of charge, and we will reply within one month.
Cookies and browser storage
This website does not use cookies.
It does keep two small items in your browser's session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab: ots_attribution remembers how you arrived on the site so it can go with any enquiry you send, and ots_chat_session lets the chat assistant carry on the same conversation as you move between pages. Neither is sent to us unless you send a form or use the chat.
Links to other sites, such as Google Maps, WhatsApp, Facebook and X, take you to services with their own privacy policies.
Keeping it safe
Information is sent to and from this site over an encrypted connection, and only the people at On the Spot who need it can see it. We choose providers that protect what they hold for us, and we review who has access.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page, and tell customers directly about any important change.
